TikTok pays creators through six programs: Creator Rewards for views, LIVE gifts, Subscriptions, Series, TikTok Shop affiliate commissions, and brand deals through TikTok One. Only two of them publish a share. The rest pay at TikTok's discretion, which makes TikTok income harder to forecast than YouTube's.

This page covers the US terms as of October 2026. Since January 2026, those terms come from a new company, TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC, so the first question is whether the app is still legal to build on.

The numbers

  • Creator Rewards needs 10,000 followers, 100,000 views in the last 30 days, and videos at least 1 minute long.
  • TikTok pays Creator Rewards and Series on the 15th of each month once the balance reaches $50.
  • Subscriptions pay 70% after fees, and up to 90% if you post 3 or more subscriber-only videos a month and meet the follower and view bar.
  • TikTok Shop affiliate access starts at 1,000 followers, with pilot limits until you reach 5,000.
  • US creator programs have run under TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC since January 2026.

Yes. TikTok runs legally in the US through TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC, a majority American-owned company that TikTok's newsroom announced on January 23, 2026. It was set up to comply with Executive Order 14352, signed September 25, 2025, which found the deal would count as a qualified divestiture under the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act.

Oracle, Silver Lake and MGX each own 15% of the joint venture, and ByteDance keeps 19.9%. The joint venture protects US user data, retrains the recommendation algorithm on US data, and sets content moderation policy. TikTok's global US entities still handle certain commercial work, including e-commerce, advertising and marketing.

For creators, the change shows up in the paperwork. The US Creator Rewards terms, last updated July 20, 2026, are issued by the joint venture, and a separate company, TT Commerce & Global Services, is responsible for paying you. The US Rewards Policy and Virtual Items Policy were rewritten on January 22, 2026.

The bigger risk now is the terms themselves. Every TikTok program reserves the right to change eligibility, rates and caps at any time, so treat TikTok income as variable and keep a second platform or an email list going.

How does the Creator Rewards Program pay?

Creator Rewards pays for views on original videos that run at least 1 minute. TikTok decides the amount at its discretion based on legitimate views and engagement, and it reserves the right to cap rewards monthly or yearly. When the program launched in March 2024, TikTok named four metrics it weighs: originality, play duration, search value and audience engagement.

Only qualified views count. TikTok's dashboard shows qualified views and RPM for each video, and paid, incentivized or bot views are excluded.

Rewards are calculated in the month after you earn them and paid on the 15th, once your balance reaches $50. PayPal, through Hyperwallet, processes the transfer. If your balance never reaches $50, TikTok's terms say the unpaid amount may expire.

To join in the US, you must meet all of these:

  • Be 18 or older and a legal resident of a country where the program runs. TikTok's Creator Academy, updated September 11, 2026, lists the US, UK, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Mexico and Brazil.
  • Have at least 10,000 authentic followers.
  • Have at least 100,000 authentic video views in the 30 days before you apply.
  • Use a personal account in good standing. Business, organization, government and political accounts cannot join.
  • Link a payment account in your own name and complete tax onboarding.

How much does TikTok pay per 1,000 views?

TikTok does not publish a rate, so every per-view figure is an estimate built from creators' own payout reports. Uppbeat's 2026 roundup of creator-reported payouts puts Creator Rewards at about $362 to $1,035 per 1 million qualified views, or $0.36 to $1.04 per 1,000. Stack Influence, citing Uppbeat's June 2026 analysis, gives a sample average near $807 per million.

Those numbers count qualified views only, and qualified views are a subset of the view count on your video. Treat the range as a planning number, not a rate card.

On those estimates, TikTok pays more per view than YouTube Shorts and less than YouTube long-form. The catch is the 1-minute minimum. TikTok rewards the same long, watchable videos that YouTube already pays more for, so post them in both places.

How do TikTok LIVE gifts and Diamonds pay?

LIVE gifts pay at TikTok's discretion, and in the US there is no published rate for turning Diamonds into dollars. Viewers 18 and older buy Coins and use them to send Gifts during a LIVE. TikTok's US Virtual Items Policy says gifting does not transfer money to the creator. TikTok counts the gifts as Diamonds, which it calls a measure of popularity.

Diamonds feed into a Reward Payment. TikTok's US Rewards Policy lists the factors for LIVE rewards: Diamonds collected, LIVE duration, new unique followers while live, viewer engagement, the number of days you go live, your league or ranking, and the quality and safety of the stream. Minimum and maximum payment limits and transaction fees may apply.

TikTok's help center says you need to be 18 or older with 1,000 followers to go LIVE, and that the follower count may vary by region. Turning on Gifts also needs an account in good standing in a location where Gifts are available. You must be 18 or older to take part in any TikTok Rewards Program. LIVE suits creators who can stream on a schedule and hold a chat. If you want income you can predict, it is the weakest program on this list.

How much do TikTok Subscriptions and Series pay?

TikTok Subscriptions pay creators 70% of revenue after fees, and up to 90% with a monthly bonus. TikTok announced the change on October 28, 2025. The extra 20% goes to creators with 10,000 followers, 100,000 views in the last month and 3 or more subscriber-only videos posted in the last month.

To offer a subscription, TikTok's 2024 expansion post says you must be 18 or older, in good standing, with at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the past calendar month, or meet TikTok's LIVE subscription requirements. Fans pay a monthly fee for badges, subscriber-only posts and chat.

Series lets you sell a collection of videos behind a paywall. The US Series terms require 10,000 followers, an account at least 30 days old, a public post in the last 30 days and an account in good standing. TikTok sets the price options, shows you an estimated fee for each, and pays on the 15th once you reach $50. It publishes no percentage.

Two Series rules matter before you upload. You cannot delete Series content once it is published, only delist it, and buyers keep access for good. If you plan to sell premium videos long term, compare Series with an outside membership. Patreon's pricing page lists a 10% fee plus processing, and our guide on how to sell to your fans covers the other options.

How does TikTok Shop affiliate pay?

TikTok Shop affiliates earn a commission on each order placed through their videos, LIVEs or affiliate links. You see the estimated commission for each product on its detail page before you add it to your showcase. Sellers set rates from 1% to 80%, and commission typically settles on the 15th day after delivery, or up to 31 days if a return or dispute holds it up.

In the US, you can apply as an affiliate creator at 1,000 followers if you are 18 or older, based in the United States, and pass identity verification. TikTok Shop's Creator Eligibility Policy, dated September 25, 2026, puts creators under 5,000 followers into a pilot program for at least 30 days.

Since May 11, 2026, every US creator and merchant can post up to 30 shoppable videos and 60 shoppable photo posts a day. Shop is the best TikTok income for product reviewers, and the pilot limits make the first month slow. How do brand deals work on TikTok One?

TikTok One is TikTok's marketplace for paid brand campaigns, and in the app it still appears as the TikTok One Creator Marketplace. You must be 18 or older, live where TikTok One has launched, and follow TikTok's Community Guidelines and Branded Content Policy. Projects require at least 1,000 followers, and each project can set other requirements.

TikTok's April 2026 help page lists three payment models. Base pay is a flat fee per deliverable. Revenue share pays by the video's performance and the advertiser's spend, for in-feed ads only. Some projects combine the two, and those terms are not negotiable.

If you have an engaged audience, price a brand deal before you count on Creator Rewards. Set your rates before you accept a flat fee, using our guides on how to get brand deals and how much to charge for sponsored posts, and label every paid post under the FTC disclosure rules.

The eligibility bar did not change. The US Creator Rewards terms, updated July 20, 2026, keep the 10,000-follower and 100,000-view thresholds TikTok announced in March 2024. What changed is the paperwork: the joint venture issues the terms and TT Commerce & Global Services makes the payments.

Which TikTok program pays for views?

The Creator Rewards Program. TikTok took it out of beta in March 2024, and the US terms describe it as formerly known as the Creativity Program Beta. It pays only for videos at least 1 minute long.
